Acorn Update
THANK YOU!!!
Thank you so much for your help to make VBS a success. Whether you were leading a crew, running a station, helping behind the scenes, providing donations and decorations, driving, and/or PRAYING for us, you helped make a difference. You all helped to share the love and light of Christ Jesus with the participants and all the volunteers.
I appreciate you all. It was a wonderful four days of laughter, love, and Jesus! I am thoroughly exhausted but wouldn’t want it any other way.
I can do all things through him who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13
Blessings, Dawn Albrecht
26 - 27 Programming Registrations
FLCTIME
FLC offers two different formats to fit your family's schedule! Children and youth can participate either on Sunday mornings between worship services or on Wednesday evenings.
For our youngest learners, Pre-K programming is offered on Sunday mornings in a classroom setting. On Wednesday evenings, Pre-K children are invited to participate in Little Lambs, a parent-and-child program where caring adults attend and learn alongside their children.
Sundays: 9:30 - 10:15am OR
Wednesdays: 5:30 - 6:30pm
PRECON
In years past, Confirmation has spanned 6th-8th grades. But Pastors, Staff, and Children’s Team agreed that the transition from Sunday/Wednesday School to Confirmation was a big shift – in addition to so many big changes happening at the same time in students’ academic and extra-curricular lives. So! We’ve designed a year of Christian faith formation specifically for 6th Graders to recognize, soften, and bridge these transitions.
CONFIRMATION
Confirmation prepares students to profess and claim for themselves faith and promises made at their baptism (probably, but not always, by parents and sponsors). This “confirming” or “affirming” of baptism and faith is done at the service of Affirmation of Baptism. Confirmation follows a three-year cycle based on promises “to teach the Lord’s Prayer, the Creed, and the Ten Commandments.” (ELW, p.228)
MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES FOR ALL AGES
The Music Ministry at FLC is vibrant part of our congregation, providing contemporary and traditional music during our worship services throughout the year. There are opportunities for all ages: vocal and bell choirs, contemporary praise bands, brass ensembles, and instrumental or vocal solos. Being a part of a music ensemble is a great way to meet people, connect spiritually through fellowship, and praise God!
VALLEYFAIR WITH FLC!
Monday, August 10 from 10:15am-5:00pm
Farmington Lutheran is going to Valleyfair! Open to all ages. Have a youth who wants to attend with no adult? That's ok! We have plenty of adults attending, we'll split into groups to wander the park together. Need a ride? Email jen@farmingtonlutheran.com, and we'll do our best to coordinate a carpool.
Free Back-to-School Haircuts & School Supplies!
Sunday, August 16 5:00-6:30pm
Thanks to the generosity of community and FLC volunteers, licensed hairstylists will be providing free back-to-school haircuts and distributing backpacks filled with school supplies to anyone and everyone in our community.
Help us spread the word! Tell your neighbors, invite your friends, and let families know they are welcome to stop by between 5:00–6:30 p.m. to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. Supplies are limited and will be available while they last.
CORN ROAST & MILESTONE EVENT
Wednesday, August 19 from 5:00 - 7:00pm
Farmington Lutheran Church will host its Second Annual Corn Feed! The Corn Feed will feature a delicious grilled dinner, fresh sweet corn, sides, and dessert. Everyone is invited to stop by anytime between 5:00 and 7:00 PM to enjoy a meal and connect with the FLC community.
Families with students entering one of our milestone grades (Kindergarten, 6th, 9th & 12th) will also have an opportunity to gather with other FLC families at the same stage of life. More details and specific times for each milestone gathering will be shared closer to the event, but each group will have the chance to hear from a panel of parents and leaders, ask questions, and connect with one another as you prepare for the new school year.
Whether you're coming for dinner, celebrating a milestone, or both, we hope you'll join us for this evening of food, fellowship, and encouragement!
