Acorn Update

Sunday, April 19 was “For Good” Sunday, the official launch of our campaign to pay off our debt, and grow into new possibilities for mission and ministry. It’s a celebration of the ways Farmington Lutheran is called and active for good by the grace of God, for the sake of the world God loves.
You’re invited to participate in “For Good” in one of more of these ways:

  1. A financial statement of intent, sharing your intended monetary support towards the goal of paying down FLC’s mortgage, and opening up possibilities for ministry.

  2. A prayer statement of intent. Whether or not you’re making a financial gift to “For Good,” praying for FLC and its mission to share the Gospel is faithful, active participation. (Prayer statements of intent are available in Sunday’s worship bulletin.)

  3. A connection card with intent to engage (or continue to!) in the life of FLC. Your time is also a gift and faithful participation in the life of being church together.

Thank you for being church “For Good!” Watch for exciting updates and progress to come.

FREE COMMUNITY MEAL
Thursday, April 23 5:30-6:30pm

All are invited—no cost, just a delicious meal and great community. Grab your neighbors, family, and friends and come out to Farmington Lutheran. We’d love to see you there!

BREWED THEOLOGY
Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00pm, Longbranch in downtown Farmington

Come earlier for food and some fellowship. Our conversation starts at 7pm. This month we're talking about "Spiritual Practices".
Brewed Theology is a casual, once-a-month gathering. It’s a chance to grab a drink, meet some new people, and have real conversations about faith, church, and culture. We break into small groups (about 4–6 people) and use a few guided questions to get the conversation going—no pressure, just good discussion and connection.

Sign up HERE to get added to the email list.

CONFIRMATION NIGHT OF SHARING
Wednesday, April 29 at 6:30pm

A requirement for Affirmation of Baptism (Confirmation) at Farmington Lutheran is making a "public statement of faith." You're invited to support around 50 Confirmation 9th Graders, as we celebrate them in their sharing of Faith Projects and Statements. Refreshments provided.

Treasurer

What are your favorite things about Farmington Lutheran?
The highlight for me is our intentionality. We go beyond being 'friendly' to being truly accepting of all people. I love that we are constantly looking for new opportunities to help individuals engage with our mission in ways that feel meaningful to them.

Tell us about your family/your dear ones.
My family is my greatest joy. My wife, Kristen, and I have been married for 19 years, raising our two daughters Madison (16) and Ava (12). As a family, we are deeply immersed in the worlds of competitive swimming and dance, and we feel incredibly blessed to have this church as a third 'home' where our girls can grow and serve.

What is your dream vacation?
After years of juggling bustling swim meets and dance recitals, my dream vacation is anywhere with a quiet beach and a clear view of the ocean. I’d love a week with no schedule, no whistles, and plenty of time to recharge with my family in the sun. To be honest, any place that doesn't require a packing list for swim goggles or dance tights sounds like paradise!

Describe your hobbies or how you like to spend free time.
A lot of my 'free' time is happily spent serving our church family. I wear a few hats here working with the Tech Team, serving on the Finance Team, and acting as Church Treasurer. When I’m not looking at spreadsheets or the guts of computers, I’m usually outdoors. I like to spend time on a lake fishing, and I like to spend time on the golf course pretending I know how to play. If you see me in the rough, feel free to offer tips!

What is/was your profession?
I am an airline pilot by trade. It’s a career that keeps me looking at the big picture from 35,000 feet, which might be why I find so much peace 'pretending' to play golf or sitting quietly by the water with a fishing pole when I’m back on the ground!

What is your favorite holiday? Why?
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, hands down. I love that the entire day is dedicated to two of my favorite things: spending quality time with my family and enjoying an incredible meal. Since I love to cook, I really enjoy being in the kitchen and helping prepare the feast. It’s the perfect time to slow down, create something delicious, and appreciate all our blessings.

SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE
Begins Sunday, June 7
9:30 Worship, 8:30 Forum

As the calendar turns through spring and towards summer, FLC is trying a new Sunday rhythm. At the suggestion of FLC members and the approval of Council, we will worship together at a single 9:30am worship service (with live stream) this summer. This will connect worshipers who often worship at different worship times, as well as allow time for fellowship & forum (e.g., Bible study) at 8:30am. This schedule will run from June 7 through August 30.
Set your calendars, and stay tuned for more details!
