Ministry Position: Care Visitation Team

  • The visitation team visits the sick and grieving, sharing hope, comfort, and the presence of God.

Projected Time Requirements

  • Visitation team members typically make at least one visit per month.  Visits last 30-60 minutes. The team member may make more visits if they desire.

  • A series of initial trainings are offered. Then, every other month, visitation team members meet together for training and debriefing.

Specific Duties

  • Team members get visit assignments from the Care Coordinator. After the visit, team members report back (typically via email) to the Care Coordinator.

  • Makes face-to-face visits on those who are hospitalized, home-bound, grieving, or facing crisis.

  • Sometimes phone calls or emails are advisable.

  • Confidentiality is paramount and must always be maintained. During training sessions, the principles of confidentiality and the exceptions are discussed.

  • Mileage to home visits is typically not reimbursed.

Volunteering and Availability

  • Training for this position is typically offered once a year. Training is required before beginning the role.
